EntSun News/11105794
The new book explores food labels, ultra-processed foods, and informed eating choices, with a focus on health issues affecting Black and Brown communities.
PHILADELPHIA - EntSun -- Dr. Lynn Peterson, an educator, certified health coach, and host of the Health News & Views podcast, has released Food: The Final Frontier: The Plain Truth About Food, Chronic Disease & Health in Black & Brown Communities. Available in Kindle and paperback editions on Amazon, the nonfiction book explores the relationship between modern food choices and long-term health, with particular attention to issues affecting Black and Brown communities.
From processed ingredients to nutrition-label claims, today's food environment can be difficult to navigate. Peterson's book takes a plain-language approach to the questions consumers face in grocery aisles and at kitchen tables, encouraging readers to evaluate ingredients, recognize marketing messages, and better understand what they eat.

Rather than promote a quick fix or a strict diet, Food: The Final Frontier emphasizes food literacy and informed decision-making. The book examines how highly processed foods became embedded in everyday diets and invites a closer look at the connections between dietary patterns, chronic disease, and community health.
The publication extends Peterson's work as an educator and host of Health News & Views, a podcast and online platform devoted to making health and nutrition information more accessible. Peterson has more than a decade of experience teaching allied health courses and communicating complex health subjects to everyday audiences.
The book offers individuals and families a resource for understanding what goes into their food, while encouraging educators and community organizations to have more informed conversations about nutrition. Its central message is not that healthy eating must be perfect, but that understanding food labels, ingredients, and the way products are marketed can support better-informed choices.
