Director Nichelle Protho and the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival Presents "Two Classes of 1968"
EntSun News/10950408
ATLANTA - EntSun -- Director Nichelle Protho will release "Two Classes of 1968" in the 13th Annual BronzeLens Film Festival. This film presents a group of African-American Catholic school students from Immaculate Conception Academy High School who were startled when an unforeseen circumstance infiltrated their lives and caused them to integrate with Aquinas High on the Hill. "The debate around Critical Race Theory has only increased my passion about being historically literate, and especially about my community and its people." says Nichelle Protho.
During the heart of the civil rights movement the African-American students had to involuntarily leave their beloved school and instructors when their high school closed down in the midst of their senior year. They became recognized for overcoming all odds and assimilating with an all-white high school.
"Two Classes of 1968" have included students who illustrate their testimony as participants and witnesses. As one of the students from Immaculate Conception Academy High School, Joseph Floyd. M.D. says, "This film not only serves as a historical document, it provides an exceptional jumping off point for frank discussions of race today. It is a perfect resource for every age but especially useful in secondary school settings."
