'Detroit Father' launches virtual community to connect 'Dad Influencers'

DETROIT - EntSun -- Influencer Damarqio Williams was determined to beat the grim statistics faced by boys who grow up without their biological dads around.

He worked hard to graduate high school, earn a college degree at just 18 years old, and begin building his empire as an entrepreneur and advocate for equity and inclusion.

Today, Williams is a leading social media influencer, "DADvocate," and community curator widely known as "Detroit Father" on Instagram (@detroitfather). As he grew his Instagram brand, Williams wanted to go one step further by founding a new group specifically to help dads like himself connect and share resources.

He created Dad Influencers with a goal to build a creative community of everyday dads who reflect what Williams says is the "true narrative of fatherhood." With Dad Influencers, dads at every stage of fatherhood are finding a safe space in which they can open up, share, and grow with likeminded men.

Dad Influencers began with a chat between a few dads on Clubhouse, an invite-only, voice-based social media app. As the group quickly grew, they moved to an Instagram group chat, which then quickly hit the 32-person limit. Now, they are using the Telegram app to host chats among members of the community, which includes everyone from expecting dads to veteran dads from across the United States as well as Canada and the U.K.
