Democrats Call For Removal Of Oyster Bay Ethics Board Following Report From District Attorney
EntSun News/10902550
Unethical Conduct of Deputy Supervisor, Gregory Carman, Demands Immediate External Ethics Investigation and NYS Oversight in Reconstitution of New Ethics Board in Oyster Bay
OYSTER BAY, N.Y. - EntSun -- Oyster Bay residents and Democratic Candidates demanded the removal and reconstitution of the Town of Oyster Bay Ethics Board following the Nassau County District Attorney's report on Deputy Supervisor, Gregory Carman's unethical conduct and abuse of power.
The Town of Oyster Bay Ethics Board has proven itself to be incompetent, negligent, and a cog in the wheel of the corrupt republican machine. It is imperative an immediate external investigation is conducted into Gregory Carman's abuse of his position to solicit political donations from Town employees based on their salary; and that a new board is fairly installed to ensure a legitimate investigation.
"Complete removal and restructuring of the Ethics Board is mandatory to protect taxpayers against Republican corruption," says Amanda Field, Democratic Candidate for Oyster Bay Town Supervisor. "It is unacceptable that the entity charged with maintaining checks and balances remains unchecked and unbalanced," she continued.

Confirming the necessity for the imminent removal of the Oyster Bay Ethics Board, the NYS Comptroller's Audit of the Board noted the following:
"Town officials did not meet ethics standards. . . and did not adequately administer the Town's disclosure system that is intended to foster transparency and help identify conflicts of interest."
The Town of Oyster Bay Ethics Board has repeatedly ignored and delayed ethics complaints, improperly conducted meetings and avoided inquiries and FOIL requests regarding matters of investigation. The Board continues to operate in secrecy and in violation of their own Town Code.
"It is the responsibility of local government to hold their officials accountable their conduct, and to maintain comprehensive, accurate records that are easily accessible to residents," says Carla Hoene, Democratic Candidate for Oyster Bay Town Clerk. "The Saladino administration's disregard for transparency is a systematic failure that is both unacceptable and a violation of public trust. The time for reform is now"
