Colorado Springs: CSPD and law enforcement partners target multiple suspected illegal THC and psilocybin sales locations
EntSun News/11105617
~ Colorado Springs police and federal agents seized large quantities of THC products, 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), psilocybin and cash while executing search warrants at seven businesses on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, authorities said.
The Colorado Springs Police Department's Metro Narcotics Unit, which includes El Paso County Sheriff's Office members, worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration to search five smoke shops and two liquor stores in Colorado Springs and El Paso County. Police said none of the businesses are licensed marijuana dispensaries.
The searches were part of an investigation that began in May 2025 into suspected illegal sales of THC products, including vapes and edibles, as well as other federally controlled substances. Investigators are also examining suspected sales of psilocybin products and allegations that products were sold to juveniles.
Police said the investigation began May 12, 2025, after a shipping company alerted the department to five packages containing about 215 pounds of suspected THC and psilocybin products at a Colorado Springs distribution center. The packages, shipped from New York, were addressed to a person at a Speedys Smoke Shop on Airport Road.

A second shipment, weighing about 200 pounds, was collected by patrol officers on Sept. 22, 2025, after another shipping company notification. It was addressed to a person at a Speedys Smoke Shop on Murray Boulevard, police said. Investigators also reported making undercover purchases at the seven locations during 2025 and 2026, and intercepting another shipment on Oct. 2, 2026.
The businesses searched were five Speedys Smoke Shop locations, at 2929 Galley Road; 2815/2819 East Fountain Boulevard; 2519 South Chelton Road; 3960 Airport Road; and 425 North Murray Boulevard. The two Los Compadres Liquor Store locations were at 3865 Astrozon Boulevard and 640 Peterson Road in El Paso County.
Police said the volume of seized products means it could take several days to complete an inventory and determine exact quantities. At one location, a 16-year-old was working alone behind the counter when investigators arrived to serve the warrant.
CSPD Chief Adrian Vasquez said reports of sales to minors were "particularly concerning," adding that customers may not know the contents or strength of products sold illegally. DEA Rocky Mountain Field Division Special Agent in Charge Mark Putnam said the seized products appeared designed to attract people under 21 and other young adults.
The investigation remains open and active. Anyone with information can contact CSPD at 719-444-7000. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867) or 1-800-222-8477.
