Colorado Springs: City welcomes José Lopez-Nava as Municipal Court Administrator

~ The City of Colorado Springs has announced the appointment of José Lopez-Nava as its new municipal court administrator. With a decade of experience in criminal justice and court administration, Lopez-Nava brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.
As the municipal court administrator, Lopez-Nava will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Colorado Springs Municipal Court. This includes managing court personnel, records, administrative procedures, and courthouse operations.
Mayor Yemi Mobolade expressed confidence in Lopez-Nava's abilities, stating that he brings a strong combination of criminal justice experience, court administration skills, and public-service leadership to the position. Mobolade also noted that Lopez-Nava's career reflects an understanding that an effective court system must prioritize both operational excellence and service to the community.

Lopez-Nava most recently served as deputy court administrator for Boulder Municipal Court, where he played a key role in improving court operations and implementing community-centered justice practices. His previous experience includes working as a diversion director at the Larimer County District Attorney's Office and as a probation and parole officer. He also has experience managing behavioral and treatment-focused clinical programs in Sacramento, California.
In addition to his work in court administration, Lopez-Nava is also a lecturer at the University of Colorado Denver. He teaches courses on juvenile justice and juvenile delinquency. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education Leadership there.
The City of Colorado Springs is confident that with his extensive background and dedication to serving the community, López-Nava will lead the Municipal Court team with professionalism, efficiency, and care. His appointment is expected to strengthen partnerships across the justice system and ensure that residents continue to receive quality service from their municipal court.
