City of Bloomington Utilities Publishes 2026 Drinking Water Quality Report

~ Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Utilities has released its 2026 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), to provide customers with important information about the quality of their local drinking water. This report, required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Safe Drinking Water Act, includes data from tests conducted during 2025.

According to the report, Bloomington's drinking water met all federal standards for safe consumption in 2025. The report also details any regulated contaminants that were detected in the city's drinking water during that year, including disinfectant by-products (DBPs) and total organic carbon. However, it is worth noting that nearly 80 additional potential contaminants were tested for and not found in Bloomington's drinking water.

It is important to keep in mind that this report only contains data from 2025 and does not reflect the restoration of fluoridation that occurred in January 2026. Future results from fluoride monitoring will be included in subsequent annual reports.

In addition to the CCR, customers can access data about their drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater through Bloomington's Open Data Portal. This includes current and historical information about lead and copper levels, organic matter content, and disinfection byproducts. The portal also features data from the EPA's Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR) program, which found no detectable levels of PFAS (commonly known as "forever chemicals") in Bloomington's drinking water.
