Bill Edwards to Be Celebrated with Marine Corps Honors and Celebrity Concert

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - EntSun -- Family, friends, and community members will gather Sunday, Oct. 18, to celebrate the life of Bill Edwards —husband, father, Vietnam veteran and U.S. Marine, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and entertainment executive whose impact on St. Petersburg spanned business, the arts, and the community.

The Celebration of Life will take place at the Mahaffey Theater, a place that became deeply personal to Edwards during the 16 years he led it. The theater, its stage, and the many artists and people behind the scenes became an important part of his life and one of his greatest passions in St. Petersburg.

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. sharp with U.S. Marine Corps Military Honors on the plaza in front of the theater, paying tribute to Edwards' service as a Marine and Purple Heart recipient who served in Vietnam. His military service remained a source of great pride throughout his life. Guests wishing to attend the military honors are asked to arrive by 4:45 p.m.

Following the ceremony, the celebration will move inside the Mahaffey for an evening of music, memories, and special performances by Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, Jon Secada, and Jamie Jones of All-4-One, along with additional artists and special guests.

The evening will reflect the many chapters of Bill Edwards' life — his pride in being a Marine and Vietnam veteran, his devotion to family, his love for St. Petersburg and the Mahaffey Theater, and the music that was always such a big part of who he was.

It will be a fitting tribute to a man who loved bringing people together and who believed there was no better way to celebrate than with great music and a room full of people he cared about.
