Big Bear Brewing Company wins Grand Champion in 25th annual USBTC

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - EntSun -- Big Bear Brewing Company recently had the honor to compete in the 25th annual USBTC. A total of 538 beers and 174 breweries were tasted in blinded fashion and on hedonic scale. Big Bear Brewing Company won Grand Champion for the Southeast region with the Hibernating IPA and notable honorable mention for Grizzly Red. Big Bear Brewing Company is a Coral Springs landmark with a 22 year love affair with the city.

Jeff Evans the Brewmaster responsible for the Grand Championship for the Southeast region rejoices in happiness at the news of the impressive win. Jeff has been passionate about brewing for 8 years and has made Big Bear Brewing Company home for 5 years as Brewmaster. Jeff was an apprentice under Matt Cox. Matt Cox was the former Brewmaster at Big Bear Brewing Company and is now Owner/Brewmaster at Copperpoint Brewing Company. Jeff has many accolades while brewing at Big Bear Brewing Company, however this one had a little more meaning. Jeff expressed his elation " This one is big for me; to have Cigar City's Jai Lai named honorable mention next to our Hibernating IPA, feels amazing".

The Hibernating IPA won Grand Champion out of 103 total beers judged in it's category. More than double the amount of entries for any other category in the USBTC. Jeff was also awarded an honorable mention for the Grizzly Red, which is also a local favorite at Big Bear Brewing Company. Jeff has been on a true winning streak with three gold medal wins for 2019. Taking home the Gold at The US Open for the Blueberry Ale in the fruit beer category. The Limoncello Cream Ale and Hibernating IPA won Gold in each of their categories at the Best Florida Beer Championships in 2019. Big Bear was also named "Brewpub of the Year" for 2019 as a result of the aforementioned wins in the Best Florida Beer Championships.
