Artist Dana Macleod talks about COVID-19

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - EntSun -- Dana Macleod starting learning piano when she was 9 years old, as she was born into a very musical family. She went to college for jazz piano and shortly after that began performing on cruise ships. In 2020, the cruise ship industry has been hit very hard and so has the entertainment business, so this is extremely unsettling for Dana at this time and we wanted to ask her how she is dealing with it. "I was actually performing on a cruise ship in Mexico when Covid started and was immediately flown back to Canada. Luckily, I have a new album coming out July 1, 2020 and I have been able to be completely focused on that during the pandemic. Online marketing, advertising, graphics and pitching to magazines and blogs have taken up most of my time. I realize everything involved in this release will have to take place online for now. Even without the Pandemic, the industry has changed so much with streaming platforms and social media. The market is flooded with talented artists. This has given rise to some big challenges but there are some really helpful tools available such as inexpensive Facebook advertising. I think the best way forward is to take advantage of things that can really help us such as online marketing, YouTube channels, live-streaming, and the immense library of information now available to all artists. We have so much access to information now and it can be so useful with basic things like how to use DAW software, how to record properly, what the best mics are, how to develop a marketing strategy, etc". With the uncertainty in the world, the release of her new album "Mirrors" is where she has put her focus. She wrote, recorded and produced it herself, which was a tremendous challenge but so very rewarding! These songs and some others will make up the set that Dana will be performing "LIVE" on her tour of western Canada in October of 2020. She will be the subject of a reality TV show that will be touring 6 cities, performing and filming the journey. She looks forward to entertaining people again, as it will be one of the few tours with live music happening in 2020. The show is called "RiseUP TV" on ROKU and it focuses on life on the road, which due to COVID-19, will certainly be even more interesting than the producers anticipated when they were planning it.
