From Domboshava to the International Art World: Artgal.Online Builds a New Platform for Contemporary Zimbabwean Art

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - EntSun -- From its physical cultural and educational base in Domboshava, Zimbabwe, to exhibitions, museum collaborations, digital initiatives, and an expanding international network, Artgal.Online is developing a broader platform for contemporary Zimbabwean art—connecting artists in Zimbabwe with collectors, curators, museums, galleries, cultural institutions, and audiences internationally.

The upcoming Tsika Dzedu: Zimbabwe National Exhibition & Competition 2026 will provide another major platform for artists and the broader cultural community. The exhibition and competition will take place at the Artgal Zim Center in Domboshava from September 8–12, 2026, culminating in the vernissage and awards ceremony on September 12. Following the event, the selected artworks will remain on exhibition at the Artgal Zim Center for a further three weeks, extending the opportunity for audiences to experience the work beyond the opening celebrations. With the Artgal Zim Center serving as its physical base, Tsika Dzedu reflects Artgal's larger objective of creating opportunities for Zimbabwean artists while bringing their work to broader audiences and strengthening connections between local artistic production and the international art community.

Alongside its activities at the Artgal Zim Center, Artgal.Online is also expanding its digital exhibition program through online presentations. Two current exhibitions on Artsy further demonstrate this expanding approach. The Spirit of Domboshava, presented through the Artgal Zim Center Exhibition Series I, features abstract paintings by Keith Zenda and runs from August 10–23. Mapiti: Spirit Forms, running from August 14–31, presents a collection of sculptures by Sampson Kuvenguhwa. Together, these exhibitions provide additional opportunities for Zimbabwean artists to reach audiences beyond the physical gallery environment, while reinforcing Artgal.Online's commitment to presenting contemporary Zimbabwean art through both physical and digital platforms.

The September Tsika Dzedu exhibition and competition arrives at an important moment in that development. Together with the Viksit initiative, the Artgal Zim Center's ongoing programming, its Artsy exhibitions, international collaborations, and expanding digital initiatives, these projects illustrate the broader vision behind Artgal.Online. At its foundation is a commitment to creating greater international visibility for Zimbabwean art and supporting the artists, institutions, and cultural relationships that can help expand its reach. From its physical base in Domboshava to its growing international presence, Artgal.Online is building a platform designed to connect Zimbabwe's contemporary art community with the wider world—creating opportunities for artists to be seen, for cultural stories to be shared, and for new relationships between Zimbabwe and the international art community to emerge.
