Young Actors Bring Ibsen to Life in Nordic-Inspired Summer Theater Workshop

EntSun News/11089562
NEWTON, Mass. - EntSun -- This summer, the Scandinavian Cultural Center & Library invites young performers to step into the world of Norwegian folklore and theater through a three-week immersive Summer Theater Workshop.

Running July 13–31, the program will culminate in a fully staged production of Peer Gynt, the iconic work by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. Written in 1867, Peer Gynt is one of Ibsen's most celebrated works, blending fantasy, folklore, and adventure in a sweeping journey from the Norwegian mountains to faraway lands.

Designed for children ages 8–12, the workshop offers a hands-on introduction to theater-making—from acting and storytelling to set design, costumes, and stage production. Participants will collaborate to bring this classic Nordic tale to life, building skills in creativity, confidence, and teamwork along the way.

Unlike traditional theater programs, the workshop embraces the full spirit of Nordic storytelling—where imagination, myth, and personal discovery intertwine. Through Peer Gynt, students will explore themes of identity, courage, and self-discovery while engaging with one of Scandinavia's most enduring cultural works.
