WORKERS AT DAIRY FARMERS OF AMERICA JOIN TEAMSTERS

EntSun News/11059311
GOLDSBORO, N.C., May 16, 2025 ~ In a recent vote, drivers at Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) in Goldsboro, N.C. have decided to join Teamsters Local 391 as contract negotiations resume for 2,000 Teamsters at the dairy co-operative nationwide. This victory comes after an intense anti-union campaign from the company, which included spreading misinformation and intimidating workers.

According to Michael McGaha, President of Teamsters Local 391, "DFA pulled out all the stops to prevent just 11 drivers from joining the Teamsters - that shows just how scared they are of the Teamsters." He also expressed pride in welcoming the new members into their union.

The decision to join the Teamsters comes as negotiations for a national contract covering 2,000 DFA workers across the country are heating up. The Teamsters are demanding higher wages, protections from automation, and a common expiration date for all DFA Teamsters contracts.

Last week, DFA Teamsters took coordinated actions nationwide to warn the public of a potential work stoppage if the company refuses to meet their demands for a fair deal. As the largest dairy co-operative in North America, DFA's actions have caught the attention of many.

Bryan Cavanagh, a 42-year driver at DFA, expressed his satisfaction with joining the powerful Teamsters Union. "By joining this union, we'll finally have our wages, benefits, and working conditions protected by a strong contract," he said. "We didn't fall for DFA's tricks because we were united in this fight. Now we are ready to take our fight to the bargaining table to address years of workplace concerns."

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and currently represents over 1.3 million hardworking people in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. With their website being teamster.org and social media presence on X @Teamsters and Facebook at Facebook.com/teamsters, they continue to fight for the rights and fair treatment of workers.
