Volunteers Invited to Help Clean and Survey the Indian River Lagoon

Two Teams. One Mission. Cleaner Water. Be a part of it and make a difference
COCOA, Fla. - EntSun -- Community Invited to Join Indian River Lagoon Hidden Waters Survey Challenge
Space Coast Water Sweep and Waterway Warriors are inviting the public to take part in the Indian River Lagoon Hidden Waters Survey Challenge, a community conservation event focused on cleaning the shoreline, surveying the water, and locating submerged debris that often goes unnoticed.
Unlike a traditional cleanup, this event combines hands-on volunteer work with citizen science. Participants can help remove litter from the shoreline, bring their own kayak or boat to survey shallow-water areas, or use the Water Report Network app to document underwater debris for future removal efforts. The information collected will help identify pollution hotspots and guide future restoration projects throughout the Indian River Lagoon.

No experience is necessary, and volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, bring drinking water, and, if helping on the water, bring their own kayak or boat if available. Every volunteer plays an important role in protecting one of Florida's most diverse and valuable estuaries.
The event will begin Saturday at 8:00 a.m. at Kelly Park East, 2550 N. Banana River Drive, Merritt Island, Florida.
