Company to exhibit at leading global robotics conference as UVIFY researchers present new targetless self-calibration technology for ultra-wide-FOV robotic perception.

PITTSBURGH - EntSun -- UVIFY, a developer of drones, swarm robotics, and spatial perception technologies, today announced that it will exhibit at the 2026 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2026), taking place September 27 through October 1, 2026, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In addition to exhibiting at the conference, members of UVIFY's research team will present new research addressing one of the fundamental challenges facing autonomous robots: maintaining accurate calibration among multiple cameras and inertial sensors while operating in real-world environments.

UVIFY researchers authored the paper, "Online Targetless Self-Calibration for Ultra-Wide FOV Multi-Camera Visual-Inertial Platforms."

UVIFY's new targetless calibration framework enables omnidirectional visual-inertial systems to dynamically calibrate during operation, eliminating the need for physical targets or laboratory environments.

Developed for multi-fisheye camera and IMU configurations, the technology continuously updates sensor alignment to prevent geometric drift caused by vibration, thermal expansion, and mechanical shock. By maintaining real-time calibration in changing environments, the framework ensures optimal perception and navigation performance for autonomous systems.

"Research like this represents exactly where we believe the next generation of autonomous systems is heading," said Robert Cheek, Chief Operating Officer of UVIFY. "Robots operating in the real world cannot depend on everything remaining perfectly aligned with factory specifications. They need perception systems capable of understanding and adapting to changes in their own physical configuration while they operate. Our objective at UVIFY is to take advanced robotics research and translate it into technology that can ultimately make autonomous systems more capable, resilient, and deployable at scale."

The framework uses cylindrical projections to pair ultra-wide-FOV cameras while motion data calibrates the IMU, jointly refining spatial alignment, timing, and inertial biases without targets.

Evaluated on drones, ground vehicles, handheld rigs, and wearables, the targetless system matched the accuracy of target-based methods. Continuous online calibration delivered cleaner visual-inertial odometry and tighter trajectory tracking than factory CAD parameters.

The work reflects UVIFY's expanding research in autonomous systems, machine perception, visual-inertial navigation and ultra-wide-field-of-view sensing. At IROS 2026, UVIFY will meet with researchers, universities, robotics companies and autonomous-system developers to discuss its technologies and opportunities for research and commercial collaboration.

UVIFY develops autonomous drone, swarm robotics and advanced spatial perception technologies for research, commercial and defense applications. The company's platforms are used by researchers, universities, government organizations and commercial operators around the world to develop and deploy advanced autonomous systems.
