Uncommon HOPE: Georgia Nonprofit Rebrands to Expand Economic, Digital Opportunity

EntSun News/11100771
Longstanding Mableton nonprofit expands model from immediate relief to tech education, entrepreneurship, and generational impact.

MABLETON, Ga. - EntSun -- Responding to the changing economic landscape across Georgia, H.O.P.E. Family Resource Center, Inc., founded by Carolyn and Sherman Turner, today announced its rebrand as Uncommon HOPE. Building on years of trusted emergency aid in South Cobb, the organization is expanding its model to offer "A Different Way Forward for Families", connecting immediate relief with sustainable pathways toward skills, income, opportunity, and generational impact.

"Georgia has changed, and the needs of our families have changed," said Carolyn Turner, CNP, Co-Founder, President & CEO. "While we will always provide basic necessities during a crisis, support cannot stop when today's emergency passes. We are evolving our model to help families build capacity, income, and choices for tomorrow."

To support this shift, Uncommon HOPE is developing five core initiatives:
  • Tech Lab: A family-centered digital literacy initiative providing hands-on training in technology skills, coding, and digital safety.
  • AI Academy: Practical learning designed to equip local leaders, nonprofits, schools, and entrepreneurs to responsibly leverage artificial intelligence.
  • Income Lab: Structured pathways covering entrepreneurship, financial literacy, business branding, and access to capital.
  • Food Co-Op: An expanded food-security model connecting fresh food access with agriculture, culinary preservation, and cooperative economic opportunities.
  • Reset Room: Guided support focused on communication, restoration, and decision-making during life transitions.

The strategic expansion coincides with Turner earning the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, which the Alliance describes as the only nationally recognized credential in nonprofit management that combines learning with real-world experience.

"A bigger vision requires stronger strategy, leadership, and accountability," Turner added. "Earning the CNP has further equipped me to lead this next phase with greater clarity and confidence as we strengthen our work in Mableton and expand our reach across Georgia."

Uncommon HOPE is actively seeking corporate sponsors, foundation and funding partners, technology donors, volunteers, and community collaborators to help bring these new initiatives to life. The organization plans to deepen its impact in Mableton and South Cobb while building partnerships that can eventually extend its reach across Georgia and beyond.
