Tianxianghao Commissions Custom Spiral Welded Pipe Production Line in Vietnam

CANGZHOU, China - EntSun -- Hebei Tianxianghao Metallurgical Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has successfully installed and commissioned a custom spiral welded pipe production line for a customer in Vietnam. The project combines equipment manufacturing with on-site installation guidance, commissioning and operator training for large-diameter steel pipe production.

Tianxianghao develops customized line configurations around customers' production requirements, with engineering support covering design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and after-sales service.

On Site Installation and Operator Training

The Vietnamese project is specified for pipe diameters from 630 to 3,220 mm and wall thicknesses up to 25 mm. This configuration addresses the customer's requirements for large-diameter and heavy-wall spiral welded pipe manufacturing.

Tianxianghao engineers traveled to the customer's site to guide installation and commissioning. The work covered foundation preparation, equipment assembly, hydraulic system installation and electrical control system installation. No-load testing followed installation, together with inspection of finished pipes. The engineers also provided operational training to help the customer's staff prepare for production.

Technical Support After Startup

The completed commissioning adds to Tianxianghao's practical experience in overseas spiral pipe mill projects. The company will continue to provide after-sales support for the Vietnamese customer, helping the production team address equipment operation and follow-up technical requirements.

Spiral Forming and Double Sided Submerged Arc Welding

Spiral pipe mills form steel strip into a helical shape and weld the seam using double-sided submerged arc welding. Adjusting the forming angle allows different pipe diameters to be produced within the equipment's design range. The achievable size range depends on strip width, material properties, wall thickness and line configuration.

Tianxianghao supplies large-diameter and heavy-wall spiral welded pipe production equipment for water transmission, oil and gas pipelines, foundation piling and structural applications. For oil and gas line-pipe projects, the production process and inspection plan can be configured around applicable API Specification 5L requirements and the customer's purchase specification.

Inspection for Weld Quality and Pressure Integrity

Where specified, Tianxianghao can supply ultrasonic testing equipment, X-ray real-time imaging systems and pipe hydrostatic testing machines alongside the pipe mill. Ultrasonic testing helps identify cracks, lack of fusion and other weld discontinuities. X-ray inspection provides images for evaluating internal weld indications, while hydrostatic testing checks leakage and pressure resistance under defined test conditions.

Planning these systems together allows production and inspection requirements to be considered during line design. The selected equipment and acceptance criteria depend on the pipe specification and the agreed project scope.
