Nassau County Federation of Republican Women Donates Supplies to Hewlett House, Supporting Cancer Patients and Families
HEWLETT, N.Y. - EntSun -- The Nassau County Federation of Republican Women (NCFRW) visited Hewlett House on Sunday, March 16, to support the community learning resource center, which provides assistance to cancer patients and their families. During the visit, NCFRW members donated essential supplies, including art materials, to help further the center's mission of offering comfort and resources to those affected by cancer.
For more than 28 years, Hewlett House has provided a safe space where cancer patients and their loved ones can connect, receive reliable information and navigate their journeys together. Since opening in 2000, the center has served tens of thousands of individuals, fostering discussions that help patients process their diagnoses and treatments while adhering to strict privacy standards.

During the visit, NCFRW members met with Hewlett House Director Geri Barish to learn more about the center's services. To support its efforts, NCFRW donated supplies for the art room, where children, teens and adults affected by cancer can use creativity as a form of healing. These contributions help ensure that patients and their families have access to valuable resources in a welcoming environment.
Hewlett House operates solely on donations, without financial support from the government or nonprofit foundations. It offers a range of free services, including educational resources, 24/7 peer support and a network of survivors and medical professionals. In addition to supporting those battling cancer, the center assists children whose parents are undergoing treatment, providing them with guidance and emotional support.
As part of its commitment to uplifting cancer patients, Hewlett House offers a collection of more than 8,000 wigs to help individuals undergoing treatment restore their confidence. Patients also receive handmade cards created by local students, offering words of encouragement.
