The Man Behind the Printing: How James Graves Turned a Second Chance Into a Legacy
EntSun News/11100025
From an unfocused teenager in East Orange to a respected South Jersey printing entrepreneur, James Graves built MPAC Printing Services on faith.
BURLINGTON, N.J. - EntSun -- James Graves' journey into printing began humbly in East Orange, New Jersey, when he was approximately 15 years old. At a time when he admits he struggled with focus in school, printing became the opportunity that changed his direction. A school counselor introduced him to the trade, giving James a skill that would eventually become his passion, profession and purpose.
With encouragement from his mother, James redirected his energy and began taking his talent seriously. He enrolled at Essex County Community College Trade School, where he developed and mastered the art of printing. During this period, he also began printing for his school and earning money from his growing skills. What started as a trade was becoming the foundation of a business and a lifelong career.

Along the way, James encountered people who helped shape his future, but one mentor stood out: Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown taught James that printing was more than something you do; it was something you live. His guidance helped James develop a deeper love for the craft, while teaching him the importance of discipline, commitment, service and believing in his abilities.
James initially established his company as Graves Graphics. Later, inspired by his brother's entrepreneurial journey, he chose the name MPAC Printing Services to better represent the direction and vision he had for his growing business.
For more than 26 years, MPAC Printing Services has made its mark throughout South Jersey and beyond. James has also used his business as a way to give back, supporting organizations, programs and community initiatives. His story demonstrates how a skill, when combined with purpose and determination, can become a powerful vehicle for serving others.

Perhaps the most meaningful chapter of James' story involves the mentor who helped him discover his potential. As the years passed, James continued visiting Mr. Brown in Delaware to thank him for the influence he had on his life. James even vowed to return every few years. During one visit, he arrived at Mr. Brown's home unaware that it was his birthday.
James later learned that Mr. Brown had passed away. Although his mentor is no longer here, James believes his legacy continues through the lessons, training, love and commitment he shared. Those lessons live on through James and the work of MPAC Printing Services.
James Graves made a difference because somebody believed in him. Today, his journey serves as an inspiring reminder that one person's encouragement can redirect a life, transform a talent into a purpose and create a legacy that continues to impact others.
