Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Four To Nueces River Authority Board Of Directors

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed four individuals to the Nueces River Authority Board of Directors. Gary Krause and Eliza Santos McElhaney will serve terms set to expire on February 1, 2031, while Mark Moczygemba and Chasey Sanchez, Ed.D. will serve terms set to expire on February 1, 2027.

The Nueces River Authority is responsible for managing the control, employment, and conservation of the waters of the Nueces River Basin. This includes overseeing forestation and reforestation efforts, as well as managing groundwater, storm water floodwater, water quality control, solid waste, and parks and recreational facilities.

Gary Krause of Leakey is a retired individual who brings a wealth of experience to the board. He previously served as the founder and president of Intercontinental Training and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Maryland.

Eliza Santos McElhaney hails from Corpus Christi and is the founder of ESV Creative. With over 15 years of experience in digital strategy, she has also held communications roles in both the Texas Senate and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Mark Moczygemba resides in Poth and currently works as an independent petroleum landman at Moczygemba Consulting Services. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus organization. Moczygemba holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Chasey Sanchez, Ed.D., from Orange Grove, brings her expertise in healthcare analytics to the board. She currently serves as Director of Healthcare Analytics for Zimmet Healthcare Consultants and performs data analytics services for Lakes Regional MHMR Center and Lubbock Independent School District. Sanchez is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities, American Public Health Association, and National Association for the Education of Young Children. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from Liberty University, a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education, and is currently pursuing a Doctor in Health Science from LU.

These four individuals will play crucial roles in managing and preserving the Nueces River Basin for years to come. Their diverse backgrounds and experiences will bring valuable perspectives to the board as they work towards fulfilling their responsibilities. Their terms will expire on February 1, 2031 for Krause and McElhaney, and February 1, 2027 for Moczygemba and Sanchez.
