Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Devaney To Family Violence Criminal Homicide Prevention Task Force

~ New Braunfels resident Jessica Devaney has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Family Violence Criminal Homicide Prevention Task Force. Devaney, who currently serves as an associate judge for the Office of Court Administration, will hold this position until the Governor decides otherwise.
The main objective of the Task Force is to identify and analyze the top risk factors that may lead to family violence criminal homicide. In addition, they will provide guidance and resources to state agencies and nonprofit organizations in order to improve training for professionals who work with survivors of family violence.
Devaney brings a wealth of experience to this role, having previously worked as an attorney in private practice and as an assistant district attorney for the Comal County Criminal District Attorney's Office. She is also a member of several legal organizations, including the State Bar of Texas and its Child Protection Law Section, the Texas Bar College, and the Supreme Court Children's Commission Subcommittee.

Her background also includes serving as a member of the Texas Association of Family Defense Attorneys and the Guadalupe County Child Welfare Board. Devaney holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor from Texas A&M School of Law.
As part of her duties on the Task Force, Devaney will work with other members to collect and analyze information related to family violence criminal homicide. This information will then be made publicly available by region in order to develop policy recommendations that can assist the state in addressing this issue.
