Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ This week, Governor Greg Abbott announced his selection of several qualified individuals to serve on behalf of the people of Texas. Among these appointments were Sarah Moore as Judge of the 512th Judicial District Court in Williamson County, Katrine Formby, Angela Akins Garcia, Hannah Wing Pontikes, Loreal Sarkisian, and Donna Williams to the Governor's Commission for Women, Patrick Rhode to the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Texas, Laura Pratt to the Seventh Court of Appeals, Place 2, and Keri Pearlson to the Texas Department of Information Resources.
Sarah Moore has been appointed as Judge of the 512th Judicial District Court in Williamson County for a term set to expire on December 31, 2026. She will serve until her successor is duly elected and qualified. This appointment comes with great responsibility as she will preside over cases in one of Texas' most populous counties.
Governor Abbott also selected a diverse group of women to serve on the Governor's Commission for Women. These include Katrine Formby, Angela Akins Garcia, Hannah Wing Pontikes, Loreal Sarkisian, and Donna Williams who have been appointed for a term set to expire on December 31, 2027. Additionally, Gina Bellinger and Gita Bolt have been reappointed while Nathali Parker Weisman has been named chair and Denise Castillo-Rhodes as vice chair. The Commission's main focus is developing strategies and plans to make Texas the top state for women-owned businesses and combat human trafficking.

In addition to these appointments, Governor Abbott has also chosen Patrick Rhode to serve on the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Texas. His term will expire on September 1st, 2027 with an effective start date of April 1st, 2026. The PUC is responsible for regulating various utility industries in Texas such as electricity and telecommunications.
Laura Pratt has been appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Seventh Court of Appeals, Place 2. She will hold this position until December 31, 2026, or until her successor is duly elected and qualified. The Seventh Court of Appeals is responsible for reviewing and deciding appeals from lower courts in Texas.
Lastly, Keri Pearlson has been appointed to the Texas Department of Information Resources for a term set to expire on February 1st, 2031. The Board's main role is to coordinate and direct information resources management within state government.
