Texas: Governor Abbott Activates Additional State Emergency Response Resources As Flood Threat Continues
EntSun News/11094835
~ As severe weather and flood threats continue to loom over large portions of Texas this week, Governor Greg Abbott has taken action to ensure the safety and well-being of the state's residents. In a press release issued today, the Governor announced that he has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to activate additional state emergency response resources.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of working around the clock to deliver all necessary resources to communities affected by severe weather. He urged all Texans and visitors to heed guidance from state and local officials, monitor local forecasts, and make an emergency plan to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. The Governor also reminded everyone to "Turn Around Don't Drown," a crucial safety measure when dealing with flash flooding.
According to the National Weather Service, daily storm chances will remain across portions of the state this week, bringing with them the potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding in areas that receive repeated rounds of rain. The Panhandle region is currently facing threats such as large hail and damaging wind gusts. Additionally, moisture associated with a storm system along the Texas Gulf Coast may increase the risk of storms in South, Central, East, and Southeast Texas over the next few days. Texans are advised to stay weather aware as conditions can change quickly.
