Tacoma: City to Conduct Essential Asphalt Repairs on Proctor Street April 6 – 10
EntSun News/11088464
~ Tacoma's Public Works Department is taking steps to ensure the safety and reliability of the city's infrastructure. From April 6th to 10th, essential asphalt repairs will be conducted on Proctor Street, resulting in a closure of the street from North 21st Street to 6th Avenue between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, weather permitting.
The purpose of this time-sensitive work is to address surface imperfections and prepare the roadway for a new surface. The project will be carried out by the Public Works Department's Street Operations Division and is funded by the Tacoma Streets Initiative. This initiative, which was approved by voters in November 2015, allocated $325 million over a period of ten years to address critical infrastructure needs throughout the city. The levy officially expired on December 31, 2025.

During the repairs, there will be limited local access and no through traffic allowed on Proctor Street. Residents are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes to navigate around the work zone. Temporary no-parking signs will also be placed within the project area to ensure safety and efficiency during the repairs.
For any inquiries about this project, community members can reach out to Street Maintenance Supervisor Sean Probst at sprobst@tacoma.gov or (253) 591-5495. The City of Tacoma remains committed to maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure for its residents and appreciates their cooperation during this essential maintenance work on Proctor Street.
