Award recognizes original Delta Blues artistry and songwriting excellence
ATLANTA - EntSun -- Independent Delta Blues artist and songwriter Stevie Hawkins has won the Blues Artist/Songwriter award at the 2026 Hollywood Independent Music Awards, recognizing excellence in independent music and songwriting for his original song, "Wind Fly South."
The honor marks another milestone in Hawkins' career following the international success of his original Delta Blues single, "Wind Fly South." Earlier this year, the song received the Best Blues Song award at the European International Music Awards, where it competed against thousands of entries from around the world.
"I'm incredibly honored to receive this award," Hawkins said. "As an independent artist, recognition from music industry professionals who value originality, artistry, and musical excellence is deeply meaningful. This award is a reflection of everyone who has supported my music throughout this journey. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Brent Harvey, Executive Producer of the Hollywood Independent Music Awards, and to the distinguished panel of judges for this incredible honor. To have my music recognized by people who are so passionate about celebrating independent artists is both humbling and inspiring. I'm truly grateful for this recognition and proud to be part of the HIMA family."

Following the Hollywood Independent Music Awards victory, Hawkins continues to receive international recognition. His original Delta Blues single, "Wind Fly South," is also nominated in the 2026 InterContinental Music Awards, with winners scheduled to be announced on Aug. 23, 2026. The nomination follows the song's earlier Best Blues Song win at the 2026 European International Music Awards, further highlighting its growing impact on the international blues scene.
The Hollywood Independent Music Awards recognize independent artists, songwriters, composers, producers, and recording professionals from around the world. A panel of music industry professionals select the winners based on artistic merit rather than commercial popularity.
Hawkins said the award reinforces his commitment to preserving and sharing authentic Delta Blues through original songwriting and heartfelt performances.
"I want to thank the musicians who performed on the recording: Tommy Cox - Resonator Guitar, Willie "Spider" Webb - Bass, and Slim Long - Acoustic Guitar & Acoustic Slide Guitar, and everyone who has listened to my music, attended a show, shared a song, or offered encouragement," Hawkins said. "Your support has made this possible, and I'm grateful to have you on this journey."
