Starving Artists Release "What Am I to Do," Final Single from 1986 EP Remix Series
EntSun News/11082944
NORFOLK, Va. - EntSun -- Starving Artists today released "What Am I to Do," the sixth and final remixed and remastered single from their 1986 self-titled EP.
Following the re-releases of "Acid Rain," "Wallflower," "Model Without A Cause," "Don't Say Bad Words," and "Talking Bible," the new mix of "What Am I to Do" brings the band's single release series from the 1986 EP to a close.
"I wrote the lyrics for 'What Am I to Do' when I noticed that most Norfolk venues, and the crowds who went to them, seemed to prefer cover bands over original music," recalls vocalist Bert Kerr. "I've always liked writing about personal experiences, and this song is very much about that moment in the mid-'80s when underground music felt marginalized."
Written during a period when mainstream radio and MTV largely overlooked post-punk and alternative acts, the track namechecks several 1980s Norfolk clubs that have long since disappeared, creating a nostalgic snapshot of the city's underground music scene.

"What Am I to Do" originally appeared on Starving Artists' self-titled EP, recorded at New York's Secret Society Studios and released on Vince Records.
Accompanying the release is a new music video created by guitarist Ralph M. Gerth IV. The video features visuals of derelict landscapes and Norfolk's now-vanished Hampton Boulevard music clubs from the 1980s.
"What Am I to Do" is available now on all major streaming platforms.
