SR for Black Voices, a retrospective of documentaries, streams online August 21-22

NEW YORK - EntSun -- SR Socially Relevant Film Festival 2020 (SRFF 2020) hosts an online event focusing on the Black experience with documentaries from the festival's previous seven editions. Four programs depicting films related to Black Lives Matter will be streamed online free of charge on August 21-22.

Each program of films is followed by a short Q&A with the filmmakers. Longer "Meet the Filmmakers" LIVE online sessions are on Monday, August 17 at 5:30 PM (EST), Tuesday August 18 at 5:30 PM (EST) and on Saturday August 22 at 5:30 PM (EST) and will feature the filmmakers in a talk with guest moderators award-winning Chef Jeff Henderson - https://www.chefjefflive.com/, New York film critic Louis Proyect, and Columbia University Prof. Khatchig Mouradian. All the film and talk programs are free and open to the public. Donations will be shared with EJI, Reel Works, and ACLU (https://www.aclu.org/).

• Inside/Outside, Nandini Sikand, 95', USA, 2019 - Female mass incarceration.

Festival Founder and Artistic Director Nora Armani says, "SRFF has been screening films that deal with the Black experience since its inaugural season in 2014. We are grateful to the filmmakers who have agreed to make their films available in this retrospective so we can all celebrate the growing strength of the Black Lives Matter movement."

SR Socially Relevant ™ Film Festival New York is a 501(c)3 non-profit film festival founded by actress Nora Armani. The Mission of the SR Film Festival is to shine the spotlight on filmmakers who tell compelling, socially relevant™, human interest stories, across a broad range of social issues.
