SKRAP Finds Hope Through Heartache on Powerful New Single "Shellshock"
EntSun News/11097964
Outlaw Country Hip Hop Artist Transforms Personal Tragedy into an Emotional Anthem of Healing, Resilience, and Hope
YORK, Pa. - EntSun -- Some artists write songs to entertain. Others write because they have no other choice. For SKRAP, his latest single, "Shellshock," available now on all major streaming platforms, is a deeply personal tribute to friendship, loss, redemption, and the strength to keep moving forward.
Born Matthew Raymond Lechowicz, SKRAP has built his career on authenticity, blending the storytelling tradition of Outlaw Country with the raw lyricism of Hip Hop. Rather than chasing trends, he creates what he calls "Real Music for the Raw Soul," drawing inspiration from real-life experiences that resonate far beyond the music.
"Shellshock" tells the heartbreaking true story of twin brothers who were among SKRAP's closest friends. Both struggled with addiction, and both lost their lives far too soon. One brother died by suicide while battling substance abuse. Years later, the surviving twin sought a fresh start and reached out to SKRAP for help in overcoming his addiction. Despite SKRAP's support, addiction ultimately claimed his life as well.

The devastating losses affected SKRAP so deeply that he couldn't bring himself to record the song for nearly ten years. While completing his upcoming album, he finally found the strength to revisit those painful memories, transforming years of grief into a powerful message of hope and healing.
Rather than dwelling solely on tragedy, "Shellshock" reminds listeners that asking for help is a sign of courage, healing is possible, and even life's darkest moments can lead to redemption.
SKRAP's own journey reflects those themes. Raised in Alden, New York, he overcame bullying, addiction, legal troubles, and personal hardship before finding sobriety and rebuilding his life. Music became more than an outlet—it became his purpose.
Influenced by legendary storytellers including Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr., Eminem, Tech N9ne, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., The Lox, and NF, SKRAP has created a distinctive sound that bridges genres while remaining deeply personal.
"Shellshock" serves as a preview of his forthcoming album, Rise of a Good Villain THE LP, a chronological journey through addiction, faith, redemption, and perseverance.
The official "Shellshock" music video is now available on YouTube.
