EntSun -- Sine Nomine Associates inc. continues our OpenAFS team of expert's support of the OpenAFS community with new updates. These are typically released in the spring and fall of each year. We have completed our exciting Google Summer of Code OpenAFS mentoring projects and a lot of great things are in the pipeline. The new OpenAFS 1.8.17pre1 is the first beta for the next stable release of OpenAFS for UNIX/Linux systems. It brings support for Linux versions through 7.2 and macOS version 27 (Golden Gate), as well as disabling the OpenAFS directory name lookup cache (DNLC) on Linux since the native Linux dcache plays the same role. Some other largely internal improvements are included, such as optimizing the implementation of "unlog -cell" and relying solely on server-side volume management during "vos convertROtoRW".
