Q1 2026 produced a record $297 billion in global venture capital, yet 81% of that total -- $239 billion -- went to AI companies. • For most UK founders, a strategic trade sale to a corporate acquirer is more achievable than an IPO or private equity exit in the current market.
• R&D tax credits, Innovate UK grants, British Business Bank schemes, and Start Up Loans should be exhausted before approaching equity investors.

The report also addresses macroeconomic risk, noting that 74% of institutional investors expect an AI valuation correction—and that any cooling in AI sentiment will tighten private-market liquidity across all sectors.
