Rhode Island Entrepreneur Who Built $105M Company Enters Governor's Race on Fiscal Accountability Platform
EntSun News/11093809
Jay Gotra, the entrepreneur who's generated over a billion dollars in revenue and created thousands of RI jobs, enters the 2026 Governor's race on a fiscal accountability platform — pledging to walk away if Rhode Island isn't profitable by end of term one.
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. - EntSun -- Jay Gotra, a first-generation American entrepreneur, has formally entered the 2026 race for Governor of Rhode Island — running on a platform that treats the state not as a political battleground, but as a business that needs to be run properly.
Gotra's campaign runs on the GRIT platform — Grow Rhode Island Together — built around fiscal accountability, business freedom, energy independence, housing access, and open government. The full platform is at governorgotra.com/plans.
"Rhode Island is not broken beyond repair," said Gotra. "It is mismanaged. A broken state needs a miracle. A mismanaged state needs leadership — and that is exactly what I am bringing."
Rhode Island carries a structural budget deficit of $398 million against a $14 billion state budget. As founder of Alliance Security Inc., Gotra grew the company from a single Warwick office to 700 employees and $105 million in annual revenue — without government contracts, subsidies, or outside investors.

"I have made payroll for 700 families. That is the only qualification that matters when you are asking to manage a $14 billion budget."
At the center of the GRIT platform is an accountability pledge unlike anything in Rhode Island politics. When elected, if the state is not fiscally profitable by end of his first term, Gotra will not seek a second.
"Career politicians make promises with no consequences when they fail. If I do not deliver, I walk away. That is how the private sector works. It is how government should work."
Gotra is a registered Democrat running in the September 9, 2026 primary. The general election is November 3, 2026. He lives in East Greenwich with his three daughters and son.
