Raleigh Author Uses Words and Generosity to Serve and Encourage the Homeless

RALEIGH, N.C. - EntSun -- Eddie Jones, an accomplished author and dedicated servant of the underserved community, continues to make a significant impact on the lives of the homeless through his work in Raleigh's Moore Square. As the Communication Director at Christ's Church at Moore Square, Jones leads efforts to provide for those in need, using the royalties from his books to fund these charitable activities.

"This is by far the most fun I've had in church," says Jones. "Sundays and Monday's are now the highlights of my week."

Every Monday night, Jones leads a "Jesus Study" in Moore Square, welcoming all who wish to learn and share the teachings of Jesus. His Sundays are spent in Moore Square and at the local bus station, helping others experience the abundant life promised by Jesus. Jones believes in making the fullness of Jesus complete in others, a concept he equates with justice – making things right for those who have been wronged.

"Jesus isn't walking around anymore, but His Spirit is in believers. Jesus says each time we help our neighbor we are lending to Him. For someone like me who loves surfing and being outside this is the kind of worship I can get into."

Jones' passion for writing, helping authors, and serving the underserved is evident in how he directs the proceeds from book sales to feed and clothe the homeless. Prior to his involvement in Christ's Church at Moore Square, he helped launch Christian Devotions Ministries, where he serves as president. He is the former CEO of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, a Christian book publisher, and serves as the Executive Editor of Inspireafire.com and Devokids.com.

"I love that our church meets outside and feeds others like Jesus did. Coming down here each Sunday is like being one of the disciples in The Chosen."

Christ's Church at Moore Square operates solely with the help of volunteers. In 2023, the church spent over $7,000 on aiding the underserved in downtown Raleigh, providing food, clothing, and other basic necessities. Last year, they served over 1,500 meals and assisted with various needs, from covering rent payments to providing bus tickets.

"For $25 a month, you can help buy someone a pair of jeans, sneakers, or work boots," Jones says. "That's putting Jesus' love into action."
