Prom Attire Donations Needed at Simi Valley and Yarrow YMCAs

These items will be available at the YMCA's third annual Prom Closet, where high school students can shop for free prom attire.
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - EntSun -- The Simi Valley Family YMCA and Yarrow Family YMCA, branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, are partnering with Simi Valley Soroptimist to collect clean, gently used or new formal wear and accessories. These items will be available at the YMCA's third annual Prom Closet, where high school students can shop for free prom attire.
Items will be accepted through April 9 at each of the YMCAs.
The items needed are dresses, suits, slacks, jackets, shoes, ties, purses and accessories. Last year, 700 teens and their parents picked out free prom attire at the YMCA's Prom Closet.

"The cost of prom clothes is so high that many teens can't afford to attend their prom," says Dani Hutchison, Chief Development Officer at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. "The YMCA Prom Closet ensures students have amazing clothes to wear to their prom at no cost."
Students can shop for free on Sunday, March 22, at the Simi Valley Family YMCA (3200 Cochran St.) and Sunday, April 12 at the Yarrow Family YMCA (31105 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village). Hours are 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
