NY Army Veteran Launches "Glamping" Nature Sanctuary Campaign
EntSun News/10767745
Former Army Veteran and Green Beret, Christophe Marin has spent the past 15 years quietly conserving a unique slice of Central New York, one acre at a time. The founder of Wellnesste Lodge and Nature Sanctuary in Taberg, NY and his family have planted thousands of trees, shrubs and plants in order to build the foundation for a serene nature preserve. To fund their efforts, they have also run a small family-owned cabin rental business, which started off in the very early days of Airbnb in 2009.
TABERG, N.Y. - March 6, 2019 - EntSun -- Former Army Veteran and Green Beret, Christophe Marin has spent the past 15 years quietly conserving a unique slice of Central New York, one acre at a time.
For the past decade, Wellnesste guests and volunteers have conveyed that time on this special land has the ability to heal and invigorates people of all ages. Anyone can search the web and peruse hundreds of heart-warming reviews, stories and comments on sites such as Instagram, Airbnb, Google, Facebook, Trip Advisor and more, which attest to the power of this natural experience in Central New York.
THE VISION OF A "GLAMPING SANCTUARY"
The sanctuary has been years in the making as the Marin family began to convert what used to be abused farmland into a wild and thriving nature sanctuary. Now, via a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign, Wellnesste intends to continue its evolution by transforming former acres of monoculture crops into a sustainable glamping sanctuary ideal for both humans and nature. More than simply a place, the Glamping Sanctuary aims to build a global community that embodies Wellnesste's ethos of "learn, grow and conserve".

Once completed, the Glamping Sanctuary will enable nature loving guests to enjoy a semi-wild camping experience on this land. As guests explore this little Upstate New York sanctuary, they may spot many wild friends, including deer, porcupines, turkey, fox, fishers, pine martins, bunnies, blue birds, squirrels, raccoons, mink, weasels, otters, beavers, opossums, gophers, coyotes, owls, bald eagles, salamanders, ring-necked snakes, newts, frogs, and many others with whom the Marin's share their home.
In addition to this abundant wildlife, Wellnesste is fortunate to have over a half mile of frontage on the famous East Branch of Fish Creek, which feeds New York's largest lake, Oneida Lake. Wellnesste's rural setting means that glamping guests are sure to have a peaceful, quiet, and relaxing stay.
THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME IN NATURE
Research has shown that people in the United States spend between 85 and 95 percent of their lives indoors, and 75 percent of humanity currently lives in an urban environment. With such statistics in mind, the Marins have worked extremely hard to purchase and protect approximately 60 acres of beautiful forests, meadows, restored crop fields, wetlands, and waterfront, so that nature can do its thing and all creatures great and small can enjoy the property in its natural splendor. It's no wonder why visitors to Wellnesste are drawn by the power of nature and come here to re-energize and de-stress.
WHY KICKSTARTER / CROWDFUNDING?
Let's be honest: the biggest challenge to running a small mom and pop operation and trying to do conservation work as a family is time and money.
Those who have visited over the years have witnessed firsthand that it is just the small Marin family and the help of a few friends and volunteers that keep things going. The family has put all of their life's savings into the Wellnesste dream, and they average 60-80 hours of work a week all year long just working on the land and the cabins, and taking great care of Mother Nature and Wellnesste guests. The cabin rentals make just enough to pay the bills, and there are no fancy cars, elaborate lifestyles, or corporate-like staff.

"We're doing this kickstarter campaign because we feel strongly that with the help of like-minded environmentally conscious people, we can continue to make strides in conservation," Marin explained. "We also feel strongly that getting people involved in the sanctuary (through this campaign and through physically visiting and/or volunteering), we can have a ripple effect and get more kindred spirits thinking about the importance of wild spaces, wild critters and the protection of natural areas in their local communities."
ABOUT WELLNESSTE
Wellnesste (pronounced "wellness stay") literally means "Wellness Onto You" and comes from our belief that wellness, happiness, and the quality of life for all living creatures is directly tied to nature and the outdoors.
Wellnesste has been a popular pet-friendly getaway and retreat destination in Central New York since it was founded in 2009. In that time thousands of people (and their pets) from as far as China and as close as Rome, NY have enjoyed the nearly sixty-acre Wellnesste Sanctuary and have reconnected with loved ones, nature and the world as a whole.
