TRENTON, Ga. - EntSun -- Northwest Georgia author Jessica W. Bowman is turning personal experiences into books designed to help readers navigate adulthood, grief, and personal growth.
Bowman, who lives in Dade County just minutes from Chattanooga, Tennessee, is the author of three books—Adulting 101, In Case I Die, and Making Waves. Each book grew directly from real-life experiences and addresses challenges many people face at different stages of life, including learning practical life skills, coping with loss, and setting healthy personal boundaries.
Although Bowman has been writing since childhood and contributed to school publications and local newspapers, she did not publish her first book until a series of personal tragedies changed her perspective.
"I've always been a writer," Bowman said. "But after we started losing people we loved, it suddenly felt like it was now or never. Life is short, and if I had something meaningful to say that might help someone else, it was time to put it out into the world."

Bowman's first book, Adulting 101, was inspired when her 23-year-old cousin moved in after the death of his father. She quickly realized that many everyday responsibilities—from managing finances to handling household problems—had never been fully explained to him.
The experience sparked the idea for a practical guide designed to help young adults navigate the transition into independent living. Bowman's experience as a foster parent further reinforced the need for the book.
Her second book, In Case I Die, explores grief through candid storytelling and humor. The book was written during a difficult season for Bowman and her family, which included the painful separation from a foster child who had lived in their home for three years, followed by the deaths of her mother and father-in-law.
During that time, Bowman, her husband, and her cousin leaned on one another for support and sometimes relied on humor as a coping mechanism, jokingly referring to themselves as the "Dead Parents Society."

Her third book, Making Waves, focuses on learning to set healthy boundaries and break free from people-pleasing habits. Written during the final stages of Bowman's personal therapy journey, it encourages readers to advocate for themselves and build healthier relationships.
Bowman lives in Dade County, Georgia, where she also operates Trenton Delivers, a local delivery service connecting residents with small businesses.
Through her books and speaking engagements, Bowman hopes to offer readers practical tools and reassurance that growth and healing are possible—even after life's most difficult moments.
