Noble World Foundation Urges UN to Declare Religious Identity Laws a Crime Against Humanity
EntSun News/11059352
Religious identity laws fuel global terrorism, warns Noble World Foundation in appeal to the United Nations."
CHICAGO - EntSun -- Noble World Foundation Urges UN to Declare Religious Identity Laws a Crime Against Humanity
Noble World Foundation has made a heartfelt appeal to the United Nations and world leaders to recognize religious identity laws as a root cause of terrorism and to classify such laws as crimes against humanity. This call follows the tragic April 22, 2025, attack near Pahalgam in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where five militants killed 26 civilians. Reports say the attackers asked male tourists their religion and executed Hindu and Christian men in front of their newlywed wives. This horrifying act of targeted violence underscores the urgent need to confront the legal structures that enable such hatred.
When religion is enforced by law, it divides societies and fuels extremism. In Pakistan, Articles 41 and 91 of the Constitution restrict the offices of President and Prime Minister to Muslims. Similar laws exist in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the Maldives. These legal barriers promote exclusion, laying the groundwork for violence. Just as apartheid laws were repealed to end racial injustice, religious identity laws must be abolished to stop religious terrorism. Discrimination—whether based on race or religion—has no place in any nation's constitution.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the UN in 1948, affirms in Article 1 that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Article 18 protects freedom of religion or belief, but this does not justify excluding others from leadership based on their religion. Article 21 guarantees equal access to public service. Religious identity laws, like those in Pakistan's Constitution (Articles 41 & 91), violate these core principles by denying citizens equal civic rights based solely on their religion.
No child is born with a religion stamped on their skin. There was no Muslim before Prophet Muhammad (570–632 AD); Islam began only in 610 AD. As Shiv R. Jhawar writes in Building a Noble World, "Those who claim that following their religion or its founder is the only path to know God might reflect on this: Who was God before the birth of the founder of their religion?" He adds, "A particular follower of a religion may believe that his path is the only valid path to God, but to God, all paths are valid."
