NJT Presents Tony-winner "God of Carnage" June 11-28 at Wool Studio Theatre
EntSun News/11093655
ST. LOUIS - EntSun -- New Jewish Theatre (NJT) presents God of Carnage, winner of three 2009 Tony Awards including Best Play and a 2009 Olivier Award for Best Comedy. Running June 11 through June 28, 2026, at the Wool Studio Theatre, this play marks the first time NJT has produced a work by Yasmina Reza, the celebrated French Jewish playwright most well-known for her play Art.
The action is set in motion by a playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys that brings together their Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their principles in tatters. This play is a comedy of manners, without the manners.
Gad Guterman, Associate Professor at the Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University, makes his NJT debut as director of God of Carnage.
