New online wills platform aims to tackle Britain's will problem
EntSun News/11085285
Orbital Wills launches in the UK to make wills more accessible to those without one.
LONDON - EntSun -- Despite repeated warnings from advisers and charities, more than half of UK adults still do not have a will. For most, it is not a lack of intention, but the cost, complexity and discomfort around the process that leads it to be endlessly postponed.
A new UK platform, Orbital Wills, has launched with the aim of addressing that problem by making will preparation simpler and less intimidating.
Orbital Wills guides users through a structured online process that helps them record their wishes and produces a professionally structured will document, ready to be reviewed, signed and stored. The platform does not position itself as a replacement for legal advice, but as a way of helping people take the first and often most difficult step of getting a will in place.
"People don't avoid writing a will because they don't care," says Jonathan, the founder of Orbital Wills. "They avoid it because the process feels expensive, confusing or overwhelming. The result is that families are left dealing with uncertainty at exactly the wrong time."

Figures consistently show that dying without a valid will remains one of the leading causes of family disputes after death. Yet many people, particularly younger adults and those with straightforward estates, are put off by traditional routes that involve long appointments, unfamiliar legal language and fees that feel disproportionate to their needs.
Orbital Wills is aimed at that group. Users are guided through plain-English questions, without legal jargon or pressure to complete everything in one sitting. The focus is on clarity and accessibility, rather than advice.
The company is clear about the limits of the service. Orbital Wills is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Instead, it offers document preparation based on the information supplied by the user, and encourages independent legal advice where circumstances are more complex.
The launch comes as digital estate planning tools gain traction, particularly among homeowners, parents and professionals who recognise the risks of having no will, but have not yet engaged with a solicitor.
By lowering the barrier to entry, Orbital Wills hopes to make will preparation feel like a routine part of adult life, rather than something reserved for later years.
