Naperville Police Accepting Applications for Spring Citizen Police Academy
EntSun News/11082228
~ The Naperville Police Department has announced that they are now accepting applications for their upcoming Citizen Police Academy (CPA). This 10-week program, which will be held this spring, aims to give citizens a deeper understanding of the inner workings of police operations, practices, and objectives.
According to Police Chief Jason Arres, the CPA is an excellent opportunity for residents to gain insight into how the Naperville police department conducts their business. Through classroom lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on demonstrations, participants will learn about various aspects of policework such as patrol, investigations, forensics, and special response.
The academy will begin on Wednesday, March 4 and continue every Wednesday night until May 6. Interested candidates must submit their applications by Friday, Jan. 30, 2026. Applications will be considered in the order they are received and class size is limited due to course content and activities.

A criminal background check will also be conducted on each applicant.
To apply for the CPA program, interested candidates can visit www.naperville.il.us/cpa to print and complete the application and waiver forms. These documents must be signed and returned by Friday, Jan. 30 either via email to Jim Pacetti at PacettiJ@naperville.il.us or through fax or mail to the Naperville Police Department.
This program offers a unique opportunity for citizens to gain a better understanding of policing in Naperville and Chief Arres encourages anyone who has ever wondered about police policies, tactics, equipment or training to apply for this informative program.
