Long Beach: City Clerk to Hold Candidate Workshop for June 2 Primary Nominating Election

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Office of the City Clerk is hosting a Candidate Workshop on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon for community members interested in running for local office. The workshop will be held at Long Beach City Hall (411 W. Ocean Blvd.) and will also be available online via Zoom.
The workshop is open to all individuals considering candidacy for the June 2, 2026 Primary Nominating Election, including positions such as Mayor, City Attorney, City Auditor, City Prosecutor and City Council Districts 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. Attendees will receive a comprehensive overview of the election process, including guidelines for nominations and candidate statements, campaign regulations, campaign finance laws and local election laws.

This workshop also marks the beginning of the nomination period which will run from Feb. 9 to March 6 at 5 p.m. Nomination packets will be available after the workshop for candidates who are ready to begin the filing process.
The Candidate Handbook will be distributed at the end of the workshop and can also be accessed online through the City Clerk's webpage.
The Office of the City Clerk is dedicated to ensuring fair and transparent elections that are accessible to all members of the community. This workshop aims to support potential candidates by providing them with necessary tools and information to participate in the local democratic process.
For those who require oral language interpretation or special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, please make your request by calling the Office of the City Clerk at least 72 business hours prior to the workshop.
