Justin Thomas thrived, hitting just 5 of 14 fairways but scrambling just brilliantly, while Scheffler's consistent ball striking kept him in control, despite a late stumble. Others, like Rory McIlroy, battled early bogeys before rallying to 5 under, underscoring the courses unrelenting challenge.

Player Developments

The event faced set backs with two notable withdrawals. Jordan Spieth exited after 13-holes in Round 1 due to a neck and upper back injury; this marking make this his first PGA TOUR withdrawal. Si Woo Kim also withdrew Friday with a back injury after a 1 over 71 in Round 1. These absences raise the stakes for the remaining players, with 28 of the top 30 in the FedExCup standings still in contention.
