Kupit Kickstarter Campaign by Burgeón Brands Attempts to Reduce Waste from Single-Serving Coffee Pods
EntSun News/10832809
New K-cup coffee pod recycling tool launched on Kickstarter. "Kupit" was invented to make breaking down a K-cup coffee pod into its components safer and easier. Composed of a recyclable plastic cup, a compostable paper filter and coffee grounds, and a foil cap that is trashed, these components must first be separated for the plastic to be accepted by recycling centers.
LOS ANGELES - EntSun -- Burgeón Brands has launched its Kupit Kickstarter Campaign.
Jeremy Bailey and Candy Chung of Burgeón Brands , the innovative duo behind Kupit, created the product after realizing that massive amounts of waste are created from K-cups and similar single-serving pods. According to Statista, over 40% of American consumers owned a Keurig or similar in 2019.
As a whole, single-serve coffee pods are unable to be recycled. Composed of a recyclable plastic cup, a compostable paper filter and coffee grounds, and a foil cap that is trashed, these components must first be separated for the plastic to be accepted by recycling centers.

With a sincere belief that there was a solution to the seemingly overwhelming problem, the Kupit creators set to work: "We were frustrated with other flawed devices out on the market that either don't fully break down the K-cups and/or had to be constantly replaced. We tried a ton of different methods of breaking down K-cups on the way to creating Kupit."
Kupit securely holds the pod by its cap, allowing the user to safely separate the cap from the rest of the pod with any household serrated knife. This simple action enables consumers to detach the non-recyclable lid and paper filter from the plastic cup, allowing for easy recycling of the cup and the composting of the filter and coffee grounds.
Those interested in supporting the campaign can visit the Kickstarter page https://kupit.biz.
Kupit and Burgeón Brands are not associated with Keurig, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, or Keurig Dr. Pepper, Inc.
