Industrial Duct Fabrication Supersizes Airflow Handling Capabilities
EntSun News/10726024
GREEN BAY, Wis. - April 17, 2018 - EntSun -- Badger Sheet Metal Works Specializes in Duct Fabrication in Wisconsin
The ability to handle industrial duct fabrication sections that weigh up to 20,000 pounds each separates fabrication shops equipped to produce these extra-large components from smaller-scale suppliers. Badger Sheet Metal Works is a specialist in industrial and aluminum fabrication in Wisconsin, particularly for the regional paper industry.
Duct fabrication capabilities on a scale of massive industrial projects requires specialized equipment and experienced teams. Badger Sheet Metal Works operates in a modern facility that features four crane rails with a total lifting capacity of 30 tons and a 22-foot under-hook height. The company employs a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to ensure its welding team has a clear understanding of weld qualifications for every job.
"Some of these industrial duct fabrication projects are huge because of the volume of air they are required to move within the mills," explains Kenny Coe, director of sales at Badger Sheet Metal Works. "It's not uncommon for sections to be 15 feet by 15 feet, and 20 feet long. And there could be 60 sections this size required for one project."

Specialized Designs for Industrial Duct Fabrication
Large industrial duct fabrication requires a much stronger shell than what is typically found in smaller commercial and residential ductwork. Badger Sheet Metal Works adds insulation between interior and exterior skins, with flat bar construction for reinforcement. The sections are then transported to the customer's location and bolted together onsite.
COR-TEN steel, 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel are the most common corrosion-resistant grades used in industrial duct fabrication projects. The scale of these projects reinforce Badger Sheet Metal Works' continuous focus on worker safety.
The company hosts on-site safety classes conducted by Fox Valley Safety Training Inc. Training topics are designed to meet or exceed OSHA requirements and cover a wide range of subjects. March training topics included a facility audit, hand and power tool safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
