Idaho Falls: Dec. 19 UTV Holiday Light Parade Traffic Impacts and Route Information
EntSun News/11079919
IDAHO FALLS ~ Idaho Falls will experience a temporary traffic detour on Friday, Dec. 19, as the City prepares for the UTV Holiday Light Parade and the Stones Kia Firework Show. The detour is expected to begin around 6:30 p.m. and last until approximately 9:30 p.m.
The parade, which is set to kick off at 7 p.m., will start at Freeman Park and follow a new route that has been designed to minimize traffic impacts. This year, the parade will travel along the east side of the Idaho Falls Riverwalk to the Pancheri Bridge before returning along the west side of the Riverwalk to Freeman Park. This change in route is expected to ease overall traffic congestion.
To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, several intersections and roadways will be temporarily impacted as the parade progresses. Closure times will vary, with traffic impacts expected between approximately 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. as the route is prepared, the parade moves through the area, and roads are reopened.

Drivers should be aware of closures at Broadway Street westbound at Memorial Drive and eastbound at River Parkway, as well as lane adjustments on U.S. 20 eastbound over John's Hole Bridge. The U.S. 20 eastbound off ramp and westbound on ramp at Fremont Avenue/Riverside Drive will also be closed during the event.
Residents living near Freeman Park may experience limited access while the parade passes through their area. However, they will still be able to access their homes by waiting for breaks in the parade for entry or exit. Letters have been sent to affected residents with more information.
Pancheri Drive will remain open to vehicle traffic during the parade, but UTVs will travel along the sidewalk adjacent to Pancheri Drive as part of the route. Drivers in this area should expect increased traffic and pedestrian activity and are advised to slow down, remain alert, follow posted signage, and avoid the area if they are not attending the parade or visiting a local business.
The City of Idaho Falls appreciates the public's cooperation and patience during this event. They look forward to welcoming the community to the UTV Holiday Light Parade and the Stones Kia Firework Show. A map showing the updated parade route and suggested viewing areas can be found on the city's website.
