Boise, Idaho ~ Idaho has returned $254.8 million to residents through its 2025 grocery tax credit, a record amount that is still expected to rise as the state processes remaining claims, Gov. Brad Little's office said.

The Idaho State Tax Commission has processed 813,241 claims totaling $254,849,965, according to the announcement. The amount is about $49 million higher than the $205.2 million issued across 822,401 claims for 2024. In 2023, the state paid $201.9 million across 805,341 claims.

Little said the credit is intended to help households facing high food costs, particularly seniors. He said the state is focused on making Idaho more affordable.

The increase followed House Bill 231, which Little signed in 2025. The law expanded the grocery tax credit, according to the governor's office.

The announcement also said Little and the Legislature have delivered more than $6.1 billion in total tax relief since he took office.
