EntSun News/11022923
HOUSTON, April 23, 2024 ~ HomeSafe Alliance, a leading household move management service provider, has successfully completed the first moves of the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC). This groundbreaking program, which aims to transform the move experience for military families, utilizes advanced technology, a digital moving portal, and personalized customer service.
The GHC was launched in San Diego, California and Seattle, Washington, marking a significant milestone for HomeSafe as they work towards becoming the exclusive household move management service provider for the U.S. Armed Forces, Department of Defense and the U.S. Coast Guard.
During a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the inaugural GHC moves, HomeSafe Alliance CEO Bobby Nicholson expressed his gratitude towards military families. "Military families sacrifice so much in their service to our country, and starting now, they no longer need to sacrifice a quality move experience," he said. "With this launch of the HomeSafe program, we are honored to deliver exceptional moves to service members and their families."
HomeSafe's approach to revolutionizing the military move experience includes best-in-class customer service and innovative technology. Their centralized customer care is available 24/7 through various channels such as call, text, email or live chat. The HomeSafe technology platform called HomeSafe Connect serves as a one-stop portal for customers to access valuable information and receive real-time updates on their move. Some highlights of this platform include a customized electronic dashboard, virtual pre-move survey option, highly accurate digital inventory, geo-fencing technology and an electronic claims process.

Joyce Van Lines, one of HomeSafe's partner service providers since 1981 hosted the GHC ribbon-cutting ceremony before performing one of the first GHC moves in San Diego. With hundreds of trusted industry partners like Joyce Van Lines joining their network every day, HomeSafe is dedicated to offering outstanding military moves.
Apart from San Diego and Seattle, HomeSafe's program will soon launch in Norfolk, Virginia, Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Camp Pendleton, California. The U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), which awarded the GHC to HomeSafe, has selected 14 initial installations in the go-live regions for the first GHC moves.
During the 2024 House Armed Services Posture Hearing, U.S. Transportation Commander Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost spoke about the impact of GHC on military moves. "[The GHC] is going to help us achieve standardization and integration and capacity management that we can't achieve today, accountability with defined standards with trained personnel, modern digital management tools where you can do the move on your iPhone, enhanced communications and simplified claims," she said. "It's going to be a radically different experience."

As HomeSafe continues to receive additional military move shipment requests from U.S. Service Branches, they are fully supportive of USTRANSCOM's deliberate phase-in of the GHC. To ensure the highest quality service, they will initially handle a limited volume of shipments to allow for data flow and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. The Department of Defense plans to increase volume at the initial phase-in locations and expand to other locations across the U.S., with a continued increase in domestic shipments into 2025.
