EntSun News/10950385
PRINCETON, N.J. - EntSun -- Morven Museum & Garden is starting off the fall with a number of historically important programs. First, flag historian and collector J. Richard Pierce will join us on Sun, Sept 11 at 2 p.m. with a special program 9/11 Day of Remembrance: The History of the American Flag. Pierce will discuss the evolution of the flag from its beginning until present day and speak to the many meanings the flag holds for generations of Americans. Doors open for this free in-person event at 1:30 p.m. in the Stockton Education Center. Tickets to visit the museum and the Ma Bell: The Mother of Invention in New Jersey exhibition can be purchased in the museum shop or online.
Morven will host its second Naturalization Ceremony on Tues, Sept 20 at 10 a.m., in the museum's Stockton Education Center. Princeton area residents who have recently completed the process to become American citizens and their loved ones will participate in the ceremony followed by a group photo opportunity in commemoration, and free access to view the museum. While this is a private event, media is invited.
On Thurs, Sept 22 at 6:30 p.m., join local Historian Linda Barth for The Garden State: Where Ideas Grow. At this hybrid event, Barth will explore groundbreaking, useful, fun, and even silly inventions and their New Jersey roots, such as: Bubble Wrap®, the boardwalk, the Band-Aid®, and even professional baseball. In-person tickets are $10 General Admission, $5 for Morven Members. Virtual tickets are $5 General Admission, free for Morven Members. The museum will be open from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. where in-person guests may view Morven's current Ma Bell exhibition. Q&A for both live and virtual attendees will follow the lecture. A Zoom link will be shared with virtual ticket holders the day of the event, and a recording will be provided following the program.
