Georgia: RTX's Pratt & Whitney Announces New $200M Columbus Expansion, Cuts Ribbon on Prior Expansion

Columbus, GA ~ Columbus, GA - In a press conference held today, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, will be investing $200 million to expand its operations in Columbus, Georgia. This expansion is expected to create 15 new jobs initially, with more jobs to follow in the future. The announcement was celebrated by Governor Kemp, Pratt & Whitney President Shane Eddy, Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson, and other public and company leaders.

Governor Kemp expressed his excitement about the investment and praised Pratt & Whitney for their continued success in Georgia. "Pratt & Whitney's decision to invest in Georgia immediately after just completing another major expansion is an incredible testament to how companies that operate in our state find reliable, ongoing, and long-term success," said Governor Kemp. He also acknowledged the company's partnership with the state for over forty years and its contribution to the aerospace industry.

The Pratt & Whitney Columbus facility was opened in 1984 and includes both the Columbus Engine Center and Columbus Forge on the same campus. The Columbus Engine Center maintains engines for various aircraft models such as Airbus A320neo family, Airbus A220, Embraer E-Jets E2, Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle and Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon. The facility also supports the production of compressor airfoils and disks for commercial and military engines.

Pratt & Whitney President Shane Eddy expressed his gratitude towards the community of Columbus for their support over the past four decades. "Since 2008, we have invested more than $1 billion to continue expanding our footprint and capabilities in Columbus," said Eddy. He also mentioned that this latest investment will increase output of critical parts for their growing military and commercial engine programs.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development's (GDEcD) Global Commerce team was represented by Regional Project Manager Christy Bozeman in this competitive project.
