ATLANTA ~ Blue Bird Corporation plans to invest an estimated $300 million in a new manufacturing facility in Fort Valley, Georgia, creating 375 jobs over the next three years, Gov. Brian Kemp announced.

The company will convert a former diesel motorhome manufacturing site at 401 Wanderlodge Way into a 1-million-square-foot facility producing Type C school buses with diesel, gasoline, propane and electric powertrains. Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

Blue Bird said it will hire for manufacturing, operations and technician positions. Information about the company and job applications is available at blue-bird.com/careers.

The expansion adds to the company's existing presence in Peach County. Blue Bird currently supports more than 1,900 employees in Georgia, according to the announcement.

"Georgia is where Blue Bird was born, and it has been our home for nearly 100 years," said John Wyskiel, the company's president and CEO. He said the new facility represents an investment in the community and will allow the company to build buses for school districts.

Kemp said the expansion reflects the company's ability to grow and adapt in Georgia. Fort Valley Mayor Shakeena B. Reeves and Peach County Commissioner Roy Lewis also welcomed the investment, with Lewis describing it as a major boost for the community.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development's Global Commerce team worked on the project with the Development Authority of Peach County and Georgia Quick Start, the state agency said.
