Faith Leader Responds to the Passing of Charlie Kirk with Prayer and Compassion

LAVEEN, Ariz. - EntSun -- Our prayers are with the family, loved ones, and all who are grieving the loss of Charlie Kirk.

As followers of Christ, we affirm that every person is created in the image of God and that every life holds immeasurable worth. Although I, and others, did not always share his views or beliefs, we do not rejoice in the loss of life. Instead, as children of God, we turn to prayer and extend the compassion of Christ to those who mourn.

The Church must remain steadfast in its opposition to violence in all its forms and continue to serve as a voice of peace, reconciliation, and hope. In these challenging days, may we be reminded of Jesus' words: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God" (Matthew 5:9).

As a leader in the faith community, I choose to respond with love rather than division, with healing rather than harm, and with prayer for our nation and our world. We trust that the God of all comfort will draw near to the brokenhearted and provide strength to those in sorrow (Psalm 34:18).

My prayer is that we shift our focus from negative thoughts and judgments toward others and, instead, seek ways to reflect Christ by showing love, compassion, and unity with our fellow man.
